Thoughts on Needed Budget Measures

ISCA CEO, Ms Fann Kor, was quoted in The Business Times on the question of "What Budget measures are needed as the focus shifts from emergency support back to growth?" This is what she has to share:

With the sustainability agenda expected to take centre-stage for businesses in 2022, we hope the upcoming Budget can drive change in three areas.

Firstly, there should be greater impetus for businesses to engage in green projects to accelerate change in improving climate conditions, such as in the form of tax incentives. Secondly, there should be support for companies in the development of green technology solutions, for them to gain first-mover advantage and possibly even export these solutions internationally. Lastly, the workforce must develop skill sets in sustainability to meet future demand and challenges. More training grants and subsidies for professionals to develop skills in sustainability-related fields, such as green finance, should be provided. This will build Singapore’s talent pool, and enable local talent to apply these skills and knowledge not just in Singapore but also globally.
